How often do we come across someone today that we feel is truly powerful? Whether it is a boss, political leader or CEO, it begs the question… what is real power? Our society deems power to be “of the ego,” someone who is strong, willful, uses their influence to get their way utilizing force or fear as the vehicle. Real power is NOT ego-driven. Truly powerful people are silent, gentle souls who possess great insight, inspiration, emotional intelligence and passion. They are true teachers whom rule with a sweetness and lightness of being. Truly powerful people know how to step aside and motivate others to be the best they can be. They know how to share the spotlight. They do not overshadow others or put out their light.
Whether you are a manager yourself or you are working under management, it is important to understand that truly powerful people are strong enough in themselves to respect you as an individual and allow you to shine. Truly powerful people give you unconditional support and strength to help you on your path. Anything less is not real power; it is ego. Be able to differentiate between the two. This is an important skill.
Find your inner power. Be true to yourself, respect yourself and those around you. Tap into that place of real power. Real power is not “of force” it is of “grace.” When you rule with real power, everyone wins.
