We are raised to believe that our minds are a “terrible thing to waste.” On the contrary… in fact, it is our minds that remain the cause of much of our own personal suffering. Day after day we adhere to the fluctuations of the mind and identify with them as being who we are. In essence, we are led astray by our minds. Once we have attached to our mental projections of who we are and what we are doing here, we have given over our control. But why would we give over our control to an aspect of being that can only succeed in causing needless worry, anxiety and stress? The mind gravitates towards negative thoughts thus securing a negative emotional state.
Yogash. Chita. Vritti. Nirodha. Yoga is the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind. According to Master Patanjali, yoga exists in the space between our thoughts – where NO thought is. That is the space of yoga. This space allows us a look into our world without labels. It is a pure space of nothingness yet of completeness. In life we have a choice, we can either believe in the lies of mind (based out of fear) or we can choose to create our reality as based on our inner knowing (the space where love and bliss dwell).
There is a superior movement in place these days – one that believes that our lives (not the mind) are the terrible thing to waste. The mind has been overvalued and misused; it needs to take a vacation. Trust me, life is too short to believe in the nonsensical drama of the mind. Let it go. Find solace in the space BETWEEN THE THOUGHTS. That is the space where real living begins.
