Slow Down

November 13, 2012

…your life depends on it.

Often times we wish that our lives were more peaceful and more easeful. We fall into the trap of material madness and over-booked schedules. Everyday we are constantly running and running on that never ending mouse wheel – working so hard to have a life yet we have forgotten how to actually live it. What we don’t realize is that the faster you run on the mouse wheel, the FASTER you will have to run to keep up with the pace you have created for yourself. Herein the cycle of insanity begins.

Life is a continuous projection of our thoughts, words and actions. We are the ones who set the pace. If you want to live a hectic and frenzied life, all you need to do is buy into the constant fluctuations of the mind and allow them to lead you all over the place. In other words, we are ruled by our “to-do lists” and as a result, we lead very stressed out lives ushered around by our “monkey minds”. We are so busy trying to make a living that we have completely forgotten how to LIVE (and enjoy) our lives. What is the point of living life like that? We are here for such a finite period of time and if your life cannot be fully enjoyed, then it is not worth living.

If you want the pace of your life to slow down, learn to cultivate a slower pace. That does NOT mean that you do not do everything you want to do, it only means that you learn to breath more stillness into every moment and rush less. Be in the present moment and notice how time expands for you. You will cultivate a new degree of peace and relaxation into every moment.

Your life show up exactly how you anticipate it. You have the choice every day to see your life as “full, yet enjoyable” or to see it as “stressful and chaotic.” When you change your mind’s perception, the situations will change for you and you will find that new degree of peace.

Always remember that you are the one in control. There is nothing outside of you that will ever calm you down and center you. The answers are always within and the answers have to do with how you see life. If you are unhappy with the pace of your life, slow down the wheel, remember YOU are the only one running it.

When You Walk With Your Head Down

… you walk into walls. It’s common sense. When you’re not looking where you’re going, you’re most likely going to end up somewhere you don’t want to be. Most of us sleepwalk our way through our lives — running the mouse wheel of life. We are so busy trying to make a living that we […]

It’s Not About Making The Right Choice

… it’s about accepting the choice you’ve already made. Our life’s path is made up of choices and there are no mistakes when it comes to making choices, because there are no right or wrong choices, there are only different choices. Don’t get caught up in the choice you’ve made – make it and move on. […]

Looking Back to the Past

… is only helpful to the extent it allows you to move forward into your future.  If it doesn’t, it keeps you back. Your life is only ever in front of you, never behind you. The past can be an informative tool if we don’t get trapped in it. If you want to uncover the […]

A Mid-life Crisis

… requires a mid-course correction. A mid-life crisis can happen at any age, but the wisdom here is that the secret to healing it, is in the way we define it. Life naturally has its ups and downs, and life is constantly asking you to define who you are in relationship to it. You’re never […]

When You’re in the Flow

… everything moves with you. And when you are not, nothing works. When you are in the flow of your life – flowing downstream — everything flows along side you. When you are out of that flow – pushing upstream — things are much more difficult. How do you know the difference? Ask yourself how […]
